Challenges of global sustainability have been discussed during Istanbul Development Dialogue 2018

During the Istanbul Development Dialogue, organized by the United Nations Development Programme, high-ranking officials of European and the CIS countries, international experts, heads of development institutions and major private corporations and consulting companies discussed the issues of partnership for long-term sustainable development of countries the region and shared their views on remaining challenges, potential for growth and innovative solutions in the field of public administration, private investments and citizens' initiatives.
Speakers included Cihan Sultanoglu, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations, Director of the Regional Bureau of UNDP for Europe and the CIS, Sergey Guryev - Chief economist of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, government representatives of countries of the region, heads of UN agencies and heads of consulting companies.
Yernar Zharkeshov, the CSI CEO and Managing Partner, who is also a member of Advisory board of the Regional Hub of Civil Service in Astana, delivered a speech and stressed the need for strengthening partnerships between governments, the private sector and civil society, and facilitating constructive dialogue for sustainable economic development, and cited as a succesful example the activities of the Regional Hub of Civil Service in Astana where 40 countries already officially participate.
In particular, Mr. Zharkeshov elaborated on the way the expertise of consulting companies can be effectively used in transformation of operational models of local governments and state corporations, by giving an example of the activities of the Center for Strategic Initiatives. Summing up his address, Mr. Zharkeshov noted the strategic importance to the countries of the region to create favorable conditions for the growth of domestic consulting companies and think tanks, which can successfully consolidate the potential of local expertise on the basis of best international practices and make substantial contribution to sustainable long-term development of their countries.
